Mission
To provide a wide range of services and
informative programs for the registered members of the Senior Center and for any
non-registered Shelton residents age 55 and older. We also provide social and
recreational programs for our members.

At what age are you eligible to join the
Senior Center?
55 years of age and older.
How can I become a member?
You must come to the Center and complete our application and have your photo
taken for our Photo ID membership card.
How much are membership dues?
$4.00 for Shelton residents
$7.00 for Ansonia, Derby and Seymour residents
$10.00 for people residing outside of Shelton and the Valley towns
Do you have transportation?
Yes, we do for Shelton residents through Valley Transit. We provide door to door
rides.
Public Meetings
- Commissioner's Meeting: Every 2nd Tuesday of
the month at 4:00PM
- Membership Business Meetings: Every 2nd Friday
of the month at 10:30AM
- Also, the City of Shelton has a Commission on
Aging.
Outreach Program
Basic Service
The Outreach Program provides door-to-door transportation Monday through Friday,
from 9:30AM to 2:00PM for Shelton residents only. Our driver will provide
limited assistance to and from the vehicle and at pick up and drop off
locations.
Who is Eligible?
Any resident of Shelton who is 55 years or older, or is unable to use the fixed
route bus service.
Limits of Assistance
The driver will assist an ambulatory rider to and from the first floor, front
door of the pick up and drop off location for a maximum of three steps.
Waiting for a Ride
The Outreach Program is a door-to-door transportation. At your scheduled pick up
time, you should be waiting at or near the first floor, front door of your pick
up location where you can se the vehicle or in the case of blind users, where
the driver can see you.
Reserving a Ride
You may reserve a ride by calling the Shelton Senior Center at 924-9342.
Outreach transportation is available Monday through Friday between 9:30AM and
2:00PM. Rides may be scheduled from 24 hours to 14 days in advanced. When
calling for a ride, please give the following information to call taker:
- Your Name
- Desired pickup date and time
- Origin of trip (your address)
- Your Doctor's or Dentist's name and address
- If a cancellation occurs, call the Center as
soon as possible
- Prior to your first ride, we will need
additional information

Trip Purpose
Trips are limited to: Doctor and/or Medical appointments and Programs provided
at the Shelton Senior Center.
Policies
Driveways, sidewalks and steps should be kept clear of trees, brush, cars and
snow for access by our driver. If these conditions are not met, the driver will
not be able to pick you up. A "NO SMOKING" policy will be enforced. In case of
inclement weather, the Outreach Program may be canceled. A member of our staff
will notify you.
What is the Contribution
There is no charge for the Outreach Program, but donations to the Shelton
Senior Center are accepted.

The Valley Transit is a resource that is available to Valley residents. You may
